I bought this to replace a fireplace in my basement TV stand. It still worked but the dog ate the remote and I couldn’t find a replacement for it. Other thing I didn’t like was my original one was on or off, no thermostat or timer. This new one has both, and the flame is brighter, plus the heater is nearly silent! Out of several fireplaces I’ve had, by FAR the quietest one. I would not hesitate to buy another of these units. The only issue, if you have any Yamaha AV equipment, the remotes use the same frequency, so you will have to tape over the remote sensor on the fireplace or something
